The 2017 Worldloppet Annual General Meeting opened in Changchun, Jilin Province on June 15.

It was the first time for the high-profile international event to be held in China.

The meeting is dubbed Davos in the field of cross-country ski race.

Representatives from the Worldloppet Ski Federation and its eighteen member states attended the meeting to discuss the status and future of cross-country ski.

Yang Andi, Director of Jilin Provincial Tourism Development Committee addressed the occasion, briefing foreign participants about Jilin’s landscape, history, culture, folk customs and ecology to prove the place is a tourist destination worthy of visit all year round.

Jilin has attached high attention to the development of ice- and snow-related industries in recent years and one of its efforts is the hosting of the Changchun Vasaloppet, a long-distance cross-country ski race. Inaugurated in 2003, the event has gradually become an influential top-notch international event since it was admitted into Worldloppet in 2014.

In addition to a series of meetings on various subjects, participants also attended a press conference to roll out the tourist brand “Enjoy a cool 22℃ summer in Jilin,” the 2017 Jilin Summer Tourism Season and 2017 Changchun Jingyuetan Forest Marathon.
