Tourists flock to Jilin during Spring Festival

This year, the seven-day Spring Festival holiday was a boon to Jilin’s tourism market with visitors swarming into its attractions.

The province, famous for its snow scenery, received more than 12.6 million visitors during the Spring Festival break, drawing revenues of 11.9 billion yuan, an increase of 18.26 percent and 23.11 percent respectively year on year, according to the Jilin Provincial Tourism Development Committee.

Visitors from Jilin and its neighboring and economically developed areas including Liaoning, Guangdong, Beijing, Shandong, constitute the bulk of domestic visitors to Jilin.

Regarding ways of travel, DIY self-driving tours were most popular. Per capita spending amounted to roughly 945.52 yuan. Long-distance transportation fee (20.8%), accommodation (22.1%) and dining (18.2%) are the primary items on the spending list.

The province is now alive with travelers. Tourism authorities across Jilin staged a series of colorful and strongly distinctive festivities featuring ice and snow, gourmet food and folk customs are being encouraged by the local government to boost winter and spring travel.

CCTV aired programs on travelling to Jilin's scenic areas such as Changbai Mountain Songhua Lake and rural tourism during the holiday, which has helped raise the province's brand image and reputation.

Various industry shows and expositions were held in Jilin to promote the winter tour-related projects and make its attractions better known to tourists.

The annual China International Ice and Snow Tourism Industry Expo is one such promotional platform. The second expo is now underway in Jilin city.

The province has a lot to offer in the winter. Tourists can participate in various sports in the ski resorts, enjoy hot spring spas and go winter fishing.

The committee makes unremitting efforts to combat various crimes and illegal acts, optimize the environment for business operation. Inspection teams led by officials of the committee set to strengthen supervision and management of tourism market in an all-round way and forbid any illegal tourism marketing activities.
