3rd summer leisure festival opens

The 3rd summer leisure festival and Jilin intangible cultural heritage festival opened in Changchun, the provincial capital, on July 5.

Sponsored by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism with support from local city and prefecture governments and the Changbai Mountains administrative committee, a total of 494 activities are planned to be held across the province from June to October.

The activities will be in three series about cities, villages and natural landscape, which Jilin terms as Trilogy of 22 C Summer in Cool Jilin.

About 220 people from 21 provinces and municipalities have attended the opening ceremony of the festival, which have also exhibited 41 intangible cultural heritage projects of Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China.

Around 2000 performers from 32 art troupes would deliver 25 performances in the province.

During the opening ceremony, more than 200 inheritors of 23 intangible cultural heritages performed in the Changchun water culture ecology park.

Twenty-eight Red Flag cars of the First Auto Work headquartered in Changchun will take part in self-driving tourism activity to showcase Jilin's industrial strengths.

Chen Shoujun, deputy head of the Jilin Department of Culture and Tourism, said: "These activities, themed ecology, leisure, culture and summer resort, aim to satisfy the people's needs for healthy and quality life in summer. Also, the government wants to make breakthroughs in the models of market revitalization and consumption promotion through organizing these activities."
