4th Jinlin Snow Exposition opens

The 4th Jinlin Snow Exposition and the 23rd Changchun Ice and Snow Festival kicked off in Changchun, Jilin province, on Dec. 13.

Bayin Chaolu, secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, Jing Junhai, provincial governor, Jiang Zelin, chairman of the Jilin provincial committee of the CPPCC, Wang Kai, secretary of the CPC Changchun City Committee, Xu Zhijun, deputy secretary general of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and Song Qihui, deputy chief of the resource development department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism attended the opening ceremony of the two events, along with around 600 distinguished guests from home and abroad.

Bayin Chaolu appreciated the long-term supports of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Council Development Research Center and the organizing committee for the 2022 Winter Olympics for the activities, and extended warm welcome to the participants of the events.

He highlighted Jilin's dedication to winter sports and related industry and tourism, pointing out that the winter Olympics in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, creates great opportunities for Jilin, and the province will try its best to provide necessary supports and services for the games.

He said Jilin has the potential to become a world-class ice and snow tourism destination, and the province should seize the opportunities to upgrade its industries related to winter sports and tourism.

Xu said that to introduce elements of the winter Olympics into the snow expo reflects Jilin province's support for the games, and the province's ice and snow industries will have a great development prospects on the platform of the winter Olympics. This will be win-win cooperation for both sides, Xu added.

Also, China Ice and Snow Economics Research Center was founded in the opening ceremony, after which a forum on ice and snow economy was held.
