Mass calligraphy exhibition held to welcome National Day and Middle Autumn Festival

Sponsored by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the 2020 Jilin Provincial Mass Calligraphy Exhibition was held at the Jilin Provincial Cultural Center on September 22 to welcome the upcoming National Day and Middle Autumn Festival as part of the seventh Jilin Provincial Citizens' Cultural Festival.

130 calligraphy works were exhibited, which had been selected from the 381 works submitted to a provincial calligraphy contest open to the public.

The contest was a government effort to enrich people's cultural life, encourage them to develop skills in various cultural fields and showcase the charm of their calligraphy works.

29 works got first prize, 65 second prize, 98 third prize and 189 honorable mention during the contest. Besides, 13 units received awards for excellence in organizing entries for the contest.

During the exhibition, the organizer issued certificates and medals to the winning individuals and units.

Contestant Liu Yanpeng from Liaoyuan said,"I am very delighted to have received an award. This contest is very meaningful. Everyone could participate and this enhanced our enthusiasm for calligraphy and allowed more people to enter the calligraphy world, which is good for the inheritance and development of this traditional culture."
