The contest was also an important initiative designated by the Ministry of Education to promote vocational education.

Some 200 teachers and students from 31 colleges and universities in eight provincial regions – Hebei, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Liaoning, Shanxi, Heilongjiang and Jilin – took part in the contest. Among them, 66 entered the final after rounds of selection.

Those who stood out during the contest would be included in the national tour guide database of ICVE, a smart vocational education platform.

Contestants would also go to famous red tourism destinations of Jilin to mourn martyrs and get a direct sense of the spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army.

In recent years, Jilin has been promoting the spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army in developing red tourism products. Since 2017, it has been organizing college students to visit red tourism sites in the hope that the students can have a better understanding of the harsh environment of the old days and do a better job in carrying down the spirit and the good traditions from the period.
