Nongan Stupa
- China.org.cn
Built from 1023 to 1030 during the Liao Dynasty, Nongan Stupa is 100 meters from the west wall of Nongan Ancient City at the junction of today’s Huanglong Road and Baota Street. It is also known as Buddhist Stupa, Liao Stupa or Jin Stupa.
The stupa is a 44-meter-high, multi-eave, 13-story octagonal brick structure. It consists of three parts: base, body and steeple. As the oldest and best preserved historical site of Changchun, Nongan Stupa embodies the culture of Liao and Jin dynasties as well as the Huanglong culture, which rendered it a major tourist destination in Changchun. It is under provincial-level cultural protection.
