Changbai County Wangtian’e Scenic Area

Wangtian’e Scenic Area is about 45 kilometers away from Changbai County.

Its 40-kilometer-long Wangtian’e Canyon is 610 meters above the sea level at the lowest point and 1,100 meters at the highest point. The main peak of the scenic area, Wangtian’e Volcano, is the second highest peak in Northeast China for an altitude of 2,051.4 meters. The Wangtian’e Volcano and the Changbai Mountain Volcano form the ridge of peaks of the Changbai Mountain range.

The most distinctive sights in this area are “eight waterfalls and ten extraordinary rock formations”. Feiliu Waterfall, Muzi Waterfall, Diaoshuihu Waterfall, Jiudie Waterfall, Zhenzhulian Waterfall and another three waterfalls constitute a dynamic and glorious picture which is balanced by the serenity and simplicity rendered by Qianzhu Peak, Shizhu Cliff, Shiti Cliff, Kongquekaiping Peak, Wangu Rock and another five rock formations.

Ticket price:

Peak seasons: 100 yuan/adult; 60 yuan/student; 70 yuan/member in a group

Battery cart in the scenic area is free.

Peak seasons: from May 1 to October 30.

Slack seasons: from October 31 to April 30

Opening time: All year round, 08:00 to 17:00

Parking lot:

There are two parking lots at the ticket office and the battery cart station within the scenic area respectively (Tourists can turn to staff there for any question freely). The two parking lots are able to accommodate 200 vehicles simultaneously (parking is free).

Transportation: Wangtian’e Scenic Area is 45 kilometers away from Changbai County, 180 kilometers away from Linjiang Railway Station, and 185 kilometers away from Songjianghe Railway Station.

Self-driving:

1. West Route: Tourists can drive along Yanjiang Road eastward for about 180 kilometers before reaching the entrance of Wangtian’e Scenic Area from Linjiang. When driving into the entrance, tourists have to drive about 8 kilometers until a ticket office in sight. After driving another 5 kilometers to the north, tourists will arrive at the core scenic area.

2. East Route: Tourists can drive about 140 kilometers to Changbai County first from Songjianghe and there are still 45 kilometers left before the entrance is seen. When entering the area, turn right for another 5 kilometers to reach the core scenic area.

Speical tourist routes and bus:

Tourists can hail a taxi to the scenic area. The price is negotiable (generally the chartered cost for a round trip is between 200-300 yuan)
