China.org.cn

The Jiguanshan Scenic Area is about 60 kilometers from Meihekou’s urban area and about 110 kilometers from Tonghua’s urban area. Chains of undulating lofty mountains in various shapes and sizes form the backbone of this scenic area. The peaks look so like a cockscomb that they are called Jiguan (Cockscomb) Mountain. As an additional range of Changbai Mountain, Jiguan Mountain is notable for its precipitous steep, towering ancient trees, grotesque stones, dense forest and numerous wild animals.

The scenic area includes Dolmens, Longwang Cave, Shennv Temple, the cliff where anti-Japanese aggression soldiers jumped down and 10 natural caves. There are over one hundred mountain springs and streams constantly bursting out crystal-clear and sweet water and the rare and precious scenery of “Three Seas” (forest sea, cloud sea and flower sea) can be seen here. Twelve peaks in the shape of a cockscomb are connected in a staggered way among which the highest one, Jiguanzi, is about 969 meters above the sea level, also the highest peak in Meihekou. The Jiguanshan National Forest Park is an important place for scientific research, camping and teaching as well as an ideal place to travel around and spend summer.
