The Yunfenghu Resort is about 40 kilometers from the Yalu River in Ji’an City. The Yunfeng Power Plant is the first among four cascade power stations co-built by China and North Korea over the Yalu River (Yunfeng, Weiyuan, Shuifeng and Taipingwan). Yunfeng Power Plant is established in 1959 and named after Yunfeng Town in North Korea. It ranks as the third largest hydropower station in Jilin Province.

Yunfeng Dam impounds the Yalu River in the upper reach. It is 828 meters long, 105 meters tall and 7 to 14 meters wide. There are four medium-sized orifice floodgates and 21 spillway floodgates weighing 65 tons. When water level is above the warning line of 318,075 meters, the floodgates will open to discharge water at a speed of 900 cube meters per second per gate, creating an imposing picture with the tremendous waterfall, the rolling mist and the resonant sound. Moreover, the dam ends where Chinese and North Korean sentry posts are located.
