Manchu Museum

The Manchu Museum, at 47 Desheng Road in the Chuanying District in Jilin, is inside the old site of the Wang Baichuan’s Residence, which is a protected relic in Jilin Province. The exhibits in the museum, showing rich flavor of the regional culture, include origin and development of Wula Manchu, customs of its life and production, record of tour of Emperor Kangxi and four concubines from Wula, historical contributions by the Eight Banners army in resisting the Russians, and relics from the Dasheng Wula, the biggest of the four suppliers of imperial tributes.

Also, it exhibits materials about Wanyan Xiyin who created the Jurchen writing system, family history in Manchu and Chinese writings, traditional Manchu medicine, and the Wula Shaman Culture which is honored as a living cultural fossil. Visitors can also enjoy performances displaying Xiketelihala Shamanism here. In addition, works of celebrities, famous writers as well as family and national treasures can also be found here. The sculptures of historical figures are vivid and lifelike. The video and audio semi-scene painting about Emperor Kangxi’s tour is shocking. The sand table exhibits are wonderful in workmanship. And the precious relics are amazing. The museum is a grand exhibition site of the Manchu cultural relics in Jilin and is a highlight of cultural tours in Jilin.
