Siping Shanmen National Geopark lies on the extension of Changbai Mountain, in the southwest of Shanmen Town, Tiedong District, Siping City. Belonging to the rhyolite of early Cretaceous, the volcanoes feature typical ancient volcanic structure and preserve rare and well-developed columnar joints. A number of well-preserved volcano landforms, diverse in type and vast in scale, not only present an entertaining view but also are of great value in scientific research. In addition, as one of the few well-preserved Cenozoic volcano groups in the world, they are typical, rare and representative of its field. Therefore, it is reputed as China’s Volcano Museum.
