Wanlu Island Scenic Area

The Mopan Lake is a water conservancy-based scenic area about 50 kilometers away from Meihekou City. It belongs to the Songhua River system in Changbai Mountain ranges. Tourists can go fishing and sightseeing by boats within the reservoir. The Wanlu Island (Thousands of Herons and Egrets Island) lies in Mopan Lake with an area of 1 square kilometer and is so named for tens of thousands of herons and egrets inhabit here. As the largest habitat for egrets in Changbai Mountain area, it has evolved into a special area for researching and appreciating egrets in north China. CCTV and other provincial television station have shot documentary films here for many times.
