China Songhua Stone Museum is located in the central area of Jiangyuan District in Baishan City, Jilin Province. The project to build this museum started in April 2009 and completed on July 8, 2010 when exhibitions are ready. Of the museum’s two floors, one is Exhibition and Sale Hall devoted to showing Songhua stone of various kinds explored in all possible places in Changbai Mountain ranges and related products, such as Songhua rare stone, Songhua inkstone, Songhua stone craftwork, and construction and decoration material made of Songhua stone. The other floor is divided into three exhibition halls, namely, “Strangest and Rarest Songhua Stone”, “Treasure of Qing Dynasty——Songhua Inkstone” and “History of Songhua Stone Industry”.

The museum courses through knowledges related to the formation of Songhua stone, the layout of its mineral veins, categories, color, features and quality evaluation of Songhua stone. Based on the historic evidence that Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong emperors of Qing Dynasty had strong preference for Songhua inkstone, the museum fully demonstrates the imperial culture embedded in Songhua inkestone as an item for imperial use.
