Paper-cut started approximately at the end of the Ming Dynasty. It was usually housewives of rural households of the Manchu ethnic group who did the cuts. That’s how it got its name Manchu paper-cut. The paper-cuts are usually focused on themes like human, animals and the customs of the Manchu ethnic group. It is simple, rough and unique in style.
