China’s Pipa Town

Xianshun Pipa School, known for its academic achievements and excellent teaching, is certified as “China’s national Pipa Training Base” by China’s Minzu Orchestral Society. In September 2008, it is named as a “National Cultural Industry Demonstrative Base” by China’s Cultural Ministry, therefore earning Liaoyuan the title of “China’s Pipa Town”. The school master Zhou Xianshun was given the title of “a distinguished inheritor of China’s Pipa Town” by the Committee of Experts for the Protection of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritages in March 2009. The title is the top honor in this field to award those who have made special contributions to the passing down of Pipa.
