Chinese Tourism Day marked in Jilin

On May 19, tourism professionals participated in group walkings in Nanhu Lake, Changchun and elsewhere across Jilin Province to celebrate the Chinese Tourism Day.

The Chinese Tourism Day has been marked for seven years so far and this year the theme is “Travel makes a happier life.”

On this day, Jilin Province organized almost thirty activities and rolled out over 140 preferential deals for tourists.

Many attractions, such as the Changbai Mountain Scenic Area, the Changbai Mountain Museum and the Confucius Culture Park, granted free admission to all visitors. Some including Jingyuetan National Forest Park, Changchun Film Century City and Changchun World Sculpture Park sold tickets at half of regular price. Tianyi Hot Spring, Northeastern China Culture Park, and Yulong Hot Spring granted free admission to one of two visitors buying tickets together.

In addition, there were deals for senior citizens, students, the poor and the disabled. People aged 65 and above could visit Changchun Puppet Manchurian Palace Museum for free by producing valid certificate. Fangchuan Scenic Area in Yanbian offers free admission to military personnel at active service, the disabled and military personnel and police officers injured while on duty.

In recent years, Jilin’s tourism industry has made remarkable progress, with its status in economic development rising and its landscape changing profoundly.  Whiling contributing to 8.7 percent of Jilin’s GDP. tourism has also driven the development of transportation, accommodating, catering and real estate.
