Jilin promotes summer tourism brand

On June 21, Jilin authorities held a press conference to promote its summer tourism brand “A halcyon summer in Splendid Jilin” and open the 2017 Summer Tourism Season.
The press conference was attended by high-ranking Jilin and Changchun government officials, diplomatic envoys from Russia, Japan, France and the United States, Worldloppet CEO Paal Epp, as well as representatives of domestic and foreign tourism enterprises and leading Chinese travel agencies, airlines, media organizations and investors.
With its abundant tourism resources, Jilin has a huge potential to tap in developing the tourism industry, said Jilin Governor Liu Guozhong when addressing the occasion.
The province has been vigorously developing tourism in recent years with a focus on summer and winter tours. As a result, tourism is on track to become a new growth driver for the local economy.
Wednesday’s press conference is part of Jilin’s efforts to develop summer tourism for which it has an advantage because of its average summer temperature of 22℃.
Participants to the occasion will also inspect Jilin and engage in business talks with a view to reaching cooperation agreements.
Organizers of the summer tourism season have also invited a group of gourmets, photographers, investors, “We media”celebrities and tourists to experience and promote Jilin.
The results of an online poll to select the top 10 tourist cities and counties, the top 10 attractions and the top 10 food items for the summer tourism season in Jilin were announced at the press conference.
The top 10 tourist cities and counties are: Changchun, Jilin, Tonghua, Huinan, Ji’an, Fusong, Linjiang, Dunhua, Hunchun and Antu.
The top 10 attractions are: Changbai Mountain, Jingyuetan in Changchun, Liuding Mountain in Dunhua, Songhua Lake in Jilin, Longwanqun in Tonghua, Capital Cities and Tomes of the Ancient Koguryo Kingdom in Ji’an, Wangtiane, Chagan Lake in Songyuan, Xianghai in Baicheng and Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort.
Besides, four summer tourist routes, all with distinct themes, were rolled out at the conference. They are: Changchun-Jilin-Yanbian-Changbai Mountain, Changchun-Jilin-Liaoyuan-Siping, Changchun-Songyuan-Baicheng, and Changchun-Tonghua-Baishan-Changbai Mountain.
In her introduction to Jilin’s appeal as a summer tourist destination, Yang Andi, director of the province’s tourism development committee, highlighted the province's beautiful mountains and waters, high forest coverage rate, idyllic scenery, rich cultural heritages and livability.
Yang said Jilin, endowed with green mountains and clear waters as well as abundant ice and snow resources, is expected to see a massive influx of tourists seeking to beat the summer heat or keen on snow and ice sport.
An audio clip featuring the sound of wind and rain, the chirps of insects and birds, the laughter of children and playing of a horse-head fiddle was played at the press conference for participants to experience the summer charm of Jilin with their ears in silence.
“Search,””22℃”and “Summer,”three short films produced by Jilin Provincial Tourism Development Committee, also premiered on the occasion and are expected to take the audience on a visual journey through Jilin in the cool summer. Over 30 tourist attractions of Jilin appeared in the films.
Tourism authorities of prefecture-level cities of Jilin Province signed a letter of pledge to improve the tourism market environment on the basis of business integrity.
