Jilin Province convened its first tourism economy analysis meeting in Changchun, Jilin, on Oct 10.

In addition to the conference, the province’s tourism development commission has also made other innovations since last year in a bid to boost tourism industry in the northeastern province with rich tourism resources.

For example, government procurement services were involved to ensure the professional level of tourism data statistics and analysis, and extensive surveys were conducted to increase data accuracy.

The measures combined to form Jilin’s tourism economy analysis mechanism.

Now Jilin aims to take its tourism industry up a notch with the analysis system which provides clear knowledge of the industry’s development and helps improve the process of decision-making.

Jilin’s tourism industry is promising.

In the first three quarters of the year, the province was estimated to have seen its tourist arrivals grow 16 percent to 155.58 million and tourism revenue grow 21 percent to 272.24 billion yuan with an average spending per visitor of 1,733.43 yuan, up8.1 percent.

During the nine month period, self-driving tourists dominated with an 82 percent share; tourists from other provinces accounted for 65.5 percent of the total.

The eight-day National Day holiday saw 15.58 million tourists visit the province, up 31.9 percent from last year, and brought 10.36 billion yuan in tourism revenue to the province, up 37.4 percent from last year.
