Jilin residents can visit Changbai Mountain for free

The annual Changbai Mountain Snow Culture Festival becomes a promotional platform to helped raise the scenic spot's brand image and reputation.

Thanks to the festival, residents of Jilin province can visit Changbai Mountain Scenic Spot for free by showing their ID card from Feb 1 to April 30.

The 12th culture festival kicked off on Feb. 8 in Chibei district and lasted until Feb. 18.

Jointly sponsored by the Jilin Tourism Development Commission and Changbai Mountain Management Committee, the festival featured a variety of activities including winter sports such as skiing, snow sculpting and other ice and snow tourism attractions, hot springs, local food tasting and visits to NE China villages.

Li Yiyang, deputy director of Changbai Mountain Management Committee, said the area enjoyed rich ice and snow resources and ice and snow sports are well-developed.

Besides traditional recreational activities, this festival represented the combination of effect of light and shade and technology, said Li.

To make full use of local resources, the government had introduced a series of tourism projects, creating an industry cluster effect, and it was necessary to promote the development of ice and snow tourism in Changbai Mountain for its construction of the world-class ecotourism destination, said Chen Shoujun, deputy director of the Jilin Province Tourism Development Commission. 

In addition, a national cross-country skiing competition and exhibition of paintings, calligraphy, and photography will be held at Changbai Mountain.
