Changchun Ice and Snow Festival promotes frosty fun

The 2018 Changchun Ice and Snow Festival and Jingyuetan Vasaloppet International Skiing Festival kicked off in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, on Jan. 4.

More than 41 events and 100 items will be held one after another at the festival. The festival has become a prime showcase for Changchun to show its ice and snow culture to the world and an ideal stage for cooperation.

Chen Shoujun, deputy director of the Jilin Province Tourism Development Commission, attended the activity.

Jonas Rosen, vice chairman of Sweden's Vasaloppet long-distance ski race, encouraged more people to imitate the professional winter sports athletes, rise to the challenges and join in Vasaloppet events, at the launching ceremony.

Jia Lina, deputy mayor of Changchun, said the festival was a platform where all skiing athletes and enthusiasts can compete and learn from each other, and winter tourism industry was being promoted here.

The festival has a more than 20 years' history in China and been famous both at home and abroad. This year's Changchun Ice and Snow Festival lasted for 100 days, from Nov. 23, 2017 to March 2, 2018.
