Jilin tourist destinations for Dragon Boat Festival

Traditions for the Dragon Boat Festival celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, and falling on June 18 this year, include racing dragon boats and eating zongzi, glutinous rice wrapped in a pyramid shape using bamboo or reed leaves.

According to the Jilin Province Tourism Development Commission, Jilin province will recommend various tours to meet diversified tourist needs for the festival such as festival tour, summer water tour, climbing tour, rural tour, cultural and research tour, folk leisure tour, and gourmet tour.

The province is close to rivers, lakes and mountains. During the recommended summer water tour, people can visit top destinations including Haizhilian square in Changchun, Songhua Lake scenic area in Jilin city, Wunvfeng national forest park in Tonghua, and Baishan Lushui international hunting resort. The province is the venue for a summer water tour with forest thermae and fresh air. Visitors can also drift along the river in mountains.

During the climbing and hiking tour, people can visit Beihu wetland park, botanical scenic area, health preservation area and Zhuque Mountain scenic area. Visitor will enjoy summer flowers and rare stones amidst lush green trees. It is indeed a feast to the eye. 

People can visit Lianxiufeng forest park, Jinzhu flower scenic area in Jilin and Chunxing ancient village in Yanji during a rural tour. At the cool summer time of year, well prepared paths offer an irresistible invitation to discover the crisp countryside.

Northeast national folk custom museum in Changchun, meteorite museum in Jilin, Temple of Confucius in Jilin, Tazishan patriotism and education base in Siping will be recommended during a cultural and research tour. The red tourism becomes very popular all over the province.
