Jilin Day amazes Beijing Int'l Horticultural Exhibition visitors

On May 24, as the Jilin Day activities entered its second day at the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism held two promotions of the northeast province's cultural and tourism resources and products at the exhibition venue's Performance Center.

The promotions, featuring Jilin's ecology, landscape, history and folk customs, were done through live songs, dances, intangible cultural heritage performances, on-the-spot oral introductions and videos, amazing their 3000 visitors.

Changchun, Jilin, Siping, Liaoyuan, Tonghua, Baishan, Songyuan, Baicheng, Yanbian and Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone, all administrative divisions of Jilin province, showcased their prime and unique resources such as Tianchi Lake, Xianghai Wetland, Jilin rime, Jingyuetan National Forest Park, border scenic area Fangchuan, Guinness-record holder Chagan Lake winter fishing at the promotions.

"When I entered the expo venue, I was attracted by the introduction of the Jilin promotion, so I decided to come over and watch the Korean songs and dances and learn about Jilin's scenery and food," said a visitor surnamed Ning from Beijing.

Jilin Song and Dance Troupe staged performances to give spectators a taste of Jilin province's folk customs, specialty food and tourism resources.


"After watching the whole promotion, I am deeply attracted to Jilin's scenery, food and folk customs. I will definitely visit Jilin this year," said a visitor surnamed Ji from Shanxi.

In addition to the promotions, other activities of Jilin Day also proved popular among tourists, such as the Elephant Hat Dance, an intangible cultural heritage; a thousand people eating bibimbap together; and exhibition of specialty products like ganoderma lucidum, blueberry, rice, and Mount Changbai ginseng.

Since the Beijing International Horticultural Expo opened on April 29, the Jilin exhibition area has attracted over 500,000 Chinese and international visitors.

As the cultural and tourism industry gains strong momentum in Jilin, the province is becoming a tourist destination all year round, especially in the summer and winter.
