An association of self-driving and RV, affiliated to the Jilin provincial tourism association, was set up on June 21 so as to build a platform for information sharing and cooperation between self-driving lovers in Jilin and those from neighboring regions.

The establishment was announced at a ceremony marking the initiation of jike chufa (start off at an auspicious moment), a self-driving tours promotion program of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, at the foot of the Changbai Mountains.

More than 100 people from Jilin, Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces take part in jike chufa, as the first batch of participants of the serial activity.

The program is intended to enhance the province's reputation as a popular self-driving destination and improve the province's services to self-driving participants.

Known as a cool summer resort and a paradise of winter sports and tourism, Jilin is located in a core zone of the Northeast Asia, and boasts rich tourism resources featuring picturesque sceneries and characteristic ethnic cultures,  which all enhances Jilin's charm as a destination for self-driving activities.

Jilin is trying its best to improve its public service infrastructure facilities related to tourism to attract self-driving tourists from neighboring regions.

Chen Shoujun, deputy director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said: "The self-driving tours promotion program aims to provide the tourists with a chance on wheels to enjoy Jilin's natural landscape, original ecological resources, and the diversity of the tourism products of the Changbai Mountains. It represents Jilin's fresh efforts to plough deeper in an emerging niche market and improve Jilin's reputation. Hopefully, it can bring about win-win results to both the supply and demand sides."

The routes of the program will extend to Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces, and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, as well as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, said Chen.
