An exhibition of the paintings presented on Jilin Provincial Museum-collected folding fans opened at Beijing Lu Xun Museum on July 30.

Eighty such fine paintings went on show.

Jilin Provincial Museum has been collecting calligraphy and painting relics for years. Among China's local museums, it is one of those with a relatively rich collection of calligraphy and painting works. Folding fans with calligraphy and painting workers on them are one of its major kinds of collections.

At the Beijing exhibition, paintings presented cover different categories ranging from landscape, figure, to bird-and-flower painting as well as a wide variety of painting techniques. Their painters mainly live in mid-Ming to Qing dynasties and belong in different schools. Thus, the exhibition offers a brief review of folding fan paintings during the hundreds of years from mid-Ming to Qing dynasties.

The exhibition runs until September 15.
