Jilin Provincial Library holds seminar on promotion of reading among children

The Jilin Provincial Library held the second edition of its series of reading-themed seminars on November 28.

The second edition focused on the promotion of reading among children by libraries.  

Zhao Jiazhi, honorary curator of Jilin Provincial Library, Liu Jiangnan, director of the three northeast China provinces (Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang) of the National Home-School (Kindergarten) Joint Education Program, Tu Hongbo, an official of the Jilin Office of the National Home-School (Kindergarten) Joint Education Program, and Ma Ben, executive chief editor of the official journal of the Jilin Provincial Library, attended the seminar along with staff members of the Children Department of the Jilin Provincial Library.

Participants held in-depth discussions on the state and future of reading promotion among children by libraries.

A staff member of the Jilin Provincial Library gave an overall introduction of the library's endeavors in promoting reading among children as well as the general trend across the country.

According to the staff member, the Children Department of the Jilin Provincial Library carries out over 100 activities on average every year with an aim to benefit over 100,000 children. It now provides services under a number of brands. Its services to special groups have produced a big impact among libraries both across Jilin and China. Participants also put forward constructive opinions and suggestions on promoting children reading at the seminar.
