The Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized a training and exchange session on how to build influential accounts on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok on June 3.

This marked the first training session under the department's program to support 100 organizational and 100 individual We-Media accounts that focus on promoting Jilin's cultural and tourism resources, or known as the "Two 100s" program.

The program is part of the department's 2020 "Spring Breeze" initiative to drive Jilin's cultural and tourism industry recovery.

At the one-hour session, Xu Miao, head of Douyin Jilin, answered the 76 questions collected ahead of the session and introduced strategies on how to operate an account on Douyin. Participants also raised questions during the session for Xu to answer.

Questions included "My landscape photos are great, but why can't they attract high numbers of views?" and "If I redesign my account, is it possible to be an influential account?”

Some 100 people who ran We-Media accounts that were focused on showcasing Jilin's cultural and tourism resources, including the accounts of government agencies, scenic areas, cultural centers, opera troups, media professionals, foodies, experienced tourists, aerial photography lovers and tour guides, took part in the session, which they said were very rewarding.
