June 13 marked the Cultural and Natural Heritage Day of China. Jilin organized various online activities to mark the day from May 19 to June 13.

Jilin city was the main city for the activities, which focused on traditional sports, traditional medicine, and intangible-cultural-heritage cuisines, and fell under seven major categories: Jilin Intangible Cultural Heritage Shopping Festival, Digital Presentation of Intangible Cultural Heritages, A Bite of Jilin Through Intangible Cultural Heritages, Exhibition of Precious Museum Collections, Museums Goes Online, Exhibition of Cultural Relics, and Online Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritages.

To boost the sale of intangible cultural heritages, Jilin helped intangible cultural heritage inheritors, businesses and other relevant parties open 113 online shops on Alibaba, Jingdong, Pinduoduo and Kuaishou, selling 445 kinds of intangible cultural heritages products, involving 77 intangible cultural heritages, 84 inheritors and 52 units responsible for intangible cultural heritage protection. So far 62,000 products, including food, clothing, handicraft and traditional medicine, have been sold.

This year marked the first time Jilin organized a large-scale promotion of its intangible cultural heritage products on e-commerce platforms.

From May 19 to June 13, localities across Jilin all actively presented their fine intangible cultural heritages online in the forms of images, texts, audios and videos. Altogether over 100 heritages were presented.

On June 13, the First Jilin Intangible Cultural Heritage Martial Arts Conference kicked off in Jilin city. Eighty-eight inheritors of different schools of martial arts showed the basic moves of their schools and held exchanges online.

Elsewhere in Jilin province like in Changchun, Wangqing, Ji'an, Tonghua, there were also activities to showcase local intangible cultural heritages like northeast China drum, Korean dance, Manchu papercutting, and ginseng processing.

Jilin also integrated poverty alleviation with the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritages. Businesses selling intangible cultural heritage products have helped increased the earnings of poor families by employing their members.

The activities marking the day received extensive coverage. Some 250 articles were published, attracting 727,000 views and close to 30,000 reposts.
