Jilin to livestream opera performances on Douyin in celebration of Dragon Boat Festival

To celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival which falls on June 25 this year, the Jilin Provincial Folk Art Troupe and the Peking Opera Troupe of the Jilin Provincial Opera Theatre will stage performances on the official account of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, on the day.

This will mark the first time the two troupes went on Douyin.

The performance by the Jilin Provincial Folk Art Troupe will start at 12:00 and last for eighty minutes. Art forms will include cross talk, Kuaiban and magic. Prominent artists like Ding Dong, famous host and national first-class actor, kuaiban player Li Zongyi and Peony Award-winning Jingdong Drum player Wang Dahai, will be among the performers.

The performance by the Peking Opera Troupe of the Jilin Provincial Opera Theatre would start at 19:00. The Opera School of the Jilin University of Arts would join the troupe in the performance. Ni Maocai, head of the Jilin Provincial Opera Theatre and winner of the Plum Blossom Award and the Magnolia Award, will bring an excellent Peking Opera performance during the show together with other famous and up-and-coming performing artists.
