Modern Ji Opera Children of East Liaohe River staged at national performance

Children of East Liaohe River, an original modern Ji Opera show created by Jilin province's Liaoyuan Art Troupe Co. Ltd., was staged online during the 2020 National Joint Performance of Grassroots Opera Troupes.

The joint performance was an initiative of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to showcase the achievements of grassroots troupes in inheriting and developing traditional opera and in serving the public and supporting poverty alleviation.

33 grassroots troupes from around China will each present a show during the joint performance which would last until September 30.

Children of East Liaohe River tells the story of Sister Man Yue and Brother Liu San and their fellow villagers harboring great love for their hometown and turning it from a barren land into a beautiful place with clear waters and green mountains despite great difficulties.

Based on real life, the show, with vivid characters typical of their era and a complete plot, fully illustrates“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.”

The show got positive public feedbacks online: "with unique Jilin charm," "beautiful singing and lyrics," and "the story of a small group of people with a big theme - ecological protection.

Online views reached 2.86 million with 260,000 likes on various platforms on the night of its performance.
