The performances were also a way to welcome the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Among the art troupes were Ji Opera Troupe of the Jilin Provincial Opera Theatre, the Jilin Provincial Folk Art Troupe, the Jilin Provincial Orchestra, the Yanbian Song and Dance Troupe, the Lishu County Local Opera Troupe and the Qianguo Ethnic Song and Dance Inheritance Center, which went to six regions of Jilin to give performances to township, village and nursing home residents, including Ji Opera, song-and-dance duet and ethnic song and dance performances.

Representing a high level of performing skills and with content loved by community residents, the performances proved to be very popular.

Meanwhile, dozens of other troupes in the province also staged shows in their home towns.

Since 2009, the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the Jilin provincial government have been organizing art troupes to perform under its "Taking Opera Performances to Rural Residents" initiative which was later expanded to "Taking Performances to Community Residents" as an important item on their agenda.

Over the past 11 years, more than 80 art troupes in the province have taken nearly 40,000 performances under the initiative to towns, neighborhoods, poor villages, communities, factories, schools, and troops, receiving warm welcome among the audiences.

The 2020 edition, consisting of over 2,000 performances by art troupes at various levels, will last until the end of this year. Meanwhile, the 13-day "Wonderful Night of Jilin · Provincial Art Troupes' National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Performance Week" also kicked off, during which 13 performances will be given at the Dazhong Theatre, Taolimei Grand Theater and the Music Hall of the Provincial Library.
