9th GTI Northeast Asia Tourism Forum held in Hunchun

The 9th GTI (Greater Tumen Initiative) Northeast Asia Tourism Forum was held in Hunchun city on November 12.

The event was sponsored the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Secretariat of the UNDP-supported GTI, and organized by the city government of Hunchun and the Northeast Asia Multi-Destination Tourism Promotion Center in Jilin.

Officials, experts and scholars from the GTI Secretariat, the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the city government of Hunchun, Jilin University, and Yanbian University took part in the forum on the spot, while representatives of the UN World Tourism Organization, other GTI member states including South Korea, Russia and Mongolia, and international academic organizations took part in the forum via a video link due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Discussions primarily focused on the new tourism trends that would emerge in the post-epidemic era in member states and the policies to cope with the new trends. Participants put forward plans and suggestions on the best ways to prevent the epidemic, on tourism policies and on regional cooperation with a view to promoting the recovery and sustainable development of the tourism industry in northeast Asia.
