Jilin recovers epidemic-hit ice and snow economy with great strength

In recent years, Jilin has made remarkable progress in developing its ice and snow sector with an increased offer of products, a thriving ice and snow economy, deepening research, and improved ice and snow tourism brands.

Government and business working together to fight COVID-19 epidemic

Early this year when the COVID-19 epidemic hit, Jilin's ice and snow tourism enterprises enforced strict prevention and control measures and suspended business in a timely manner. To help local cultural and tourism enterprises to tide over the difficulties, the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism quickly adopted two documents, returning 115 million yuan of quality guarantee depoits to 598 enterprises and providing 71.4 million yuan in subsidies to 317 ski resorts, ice and snow scenic areas and rural tourism operators.

Orderly resumption of work and production

On February 24, Changchun Miaoxiang Mountain Ski Resort resumed business after 28 days of suspension, quickly followed by other ice and snow businesses, showing great confidence in emerging from the epidemic.

Before the resumption of business, ice and snow businesses managed to pay employees on time, organized training for them and took measures to improve their scenic areas.

Measures for the 2020-2021 snow season

Jilin start the 2020-2021 snow season on November 14. To boost tourism consumption during the new snow season, Jilin province has planned some 10 million yuan in the form of consumer coupons to encourage ice and snow-related consumption.

In addition, the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will coordinate different localities and ice and snow business across the province to roll out 28 preferential measures including reduced or free tickets and other consumer discounts.
