Jilin launches colorful cloud activities for Spring Festival

Jilin province's cultural and tourism industry, as organized by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, has recently launched 348 cloud activities for the 2021 Spring Festival.

The activities would fall into 18 themes and feature the participation of 230 non-profit cultural agencies, 15 art troupes and 95 famous artists and cultural figures across Jilin.

The activities can be accessed at Douyin, Kuaishou, Weibo and WeChat, starting from February 4, the Preliminary Eve holiday which falls on the 23rd or 24th day of the 12th month of the lunar year when people offer sacrifices to the kitchen god,

Performances:

Activity 1: 240-hour non-stop livestreaming of colorful cultural activities

Time: February 9 to 18

Introduction: The activity includes stage performances, intangible cultural heritage performances, storytelling about the tradtional culture of Jilin and massive open online art courses.

Activity 2: Excellent art performances

Time: February 4 to 26

Introduction: 36 excellent performances which are either Jilin's national repertory works as announced by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism or the ministry-selected key stage art works will be staged, including Peking opera, Jilin opera, Ping opera, Manchu Xincheng opera, dance drama, symphony, song and dance drama, quyi, song and dance duet, and acrobatics.

Activity 3: Jilin's famous literary and art workers sending lunar new year greetings

Time: February 11 to 26

Introduction: Jilin's excellent stage art workers of different ages will send out their lunar new year messages to Jilin people together with short videos they record to entertain people with their professional performances.

Activity 1: Displaying of short videos documenting intangible cultural performances celebrating the Chinese lunar new year in Jilin

Time: January 18 to 26

Introduction: Eight short videos documenting Jilin's characteristic Spring Festival celebrations that are national intangible cultural heritages will be played

Activity 2: Displaying of documentaries about Jilin's craftsmen and folk culture

Time: February 4 to 21

Introduction: Two documentaries will be displayed that document interviews about Jilin's craftsmen who are still engaged in century-old craftsmanships and that tell stories about Jilin's folk customs in 20 episodes.

Activity 3: Online display of children talent

Time: February 5 to 28

Introduction: The activity includes a musical salon that displays participating young children's talent in storytelling, musical instrument playing as well as vocal and dancing talent; an AR animation contest organized in cooperation with Nanjing Shutong Tech Company for children to paint clothes for the little snow child character that appears in the classic animation work Snow Child and let it live in an AR world.

Activity 4: Display of anti-epidemic-themed and Spring Festival-themed original art works

Time: February 10 to March 16

Introduction: 22 anti-epidemic-themed and Spring Festival-themed original art works will be displayed, including singing, poem recital, clapper talk, and performing skits.

Activity 6: Display of museum collections

Time: February 9 to 18

Introduction: The precious collections of 17 museums of Jilin will be displayed in 66 short videos together with the stories behind them. Some of the videos will be presented at Jilin TV during the Spring Festival.

Activity 1: "Beautiful Jilin" 2020 Online Painting Contest

Time: February 26 to March 12

Introduction: 160 paintings that display the beauty of Jilin will be selected from across the province for exhibition and participation in the online contest.
