Jilin actively seizes opportunities of Beijing Winter Olympics to develop ice and snow economy

One of the Beijing Winter Olympics-themed passenger planes, Winter Olympics Sports, arrived in Changchun city, Jilin province, on March 4, marking the first time for the themed airplanes to arrive in the city.

The Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Jilin city government held a welcome ceremony for the plane.

The arrival of the plane was part of Jilin's series of activities held in Changchun and Jilin cities to mark the 100-day countdown of the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics on March 4.

Over 40 people, including staff members of the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Beijing Winter Paralympics athletes and members of the Beijing Winter Olympics publicizing team, were invited to experience ice and snow sports, promote ice and snow sports, and give ice and snow sports lectures.

Zhang Guangwen, deputy head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Ice and Snow, said that Jilin, on the strength of its unique snow resources, will actively align its ice and snow development with the Beijing Winter Olympics, in a bid to build Jilin into a province strong in ice and snow industry and tourism and into a world-class ice and snow tourism destination.

In recent years, Jilin has been actively seizing the golden opportunities brought about by the Beijing Winter Olympics to develop its ice and snow economy, as demonstrated by its series of themed activities "Watch Winter Olympics in Beijing, Experience Ice and Snow in Jilin."

Many ski resorts in Jilin have seen constant rises in the number of visitors they received, and a number of major projects including the Beishan Four Season Cross-country Ski Resort, Dream Jilin and Beidahu China-Swiss Ski Town have been launched.
