Jilin province saw its first tourist peak of this year during the just concluded Tomb-sweeping Day holiday. During the holiday, red tourism destinations across the province attracted big crowds of visitors with their various kinds of themed activities.

Wang Dexian, a resident of Siping city, Jilin province, visited the Siping Battle Memorial Hall during the holiday.

"I am really touched learning about the history of the Communist Party of China at the memorial hall during the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday," said Wang.

Many tourists also visited cemeteries of revolutionary martyrs to offer flowers.

Huang Bo, a tourist from Liaoning province who visited the Martyr Yang Jingyu Cemetery in Tonghua city, Jilin province, during the holiday, said, "I admire the patriotic spirit of Yang Jingyu very much, so I came here to pay tribute to him on this holiday."

Another highlight of the holiday in Jilin was the various kinds of revolutionary-themed activities held to honor martyrs and spread red culture.

On April 2, the Puppet Manchurian Palace Museum in Changchun held a memorial activity to remember deceased heroes along with the Kuancheng branch of Changchun city public security bureau, the Dongguang subdistrict office, the Huanghelu fire station of the Kuancheng district fire brigade and the Dongan Experimental School of Northeast Normal University.

The administrative center of revolutionary martyr cemeteries in Tonghua city organized an exhibition during the holiday on the heroic deeds of ten revolutionary heroes of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army including Yang Jingyu, Zhao Shangzhi and Zhao Yiman.

The center also planned to hold temporary exhibitions at public units, communities, schools and garrisons in the future to spread the patriotic spirt of Yang Jingyu and the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army.

In addition, over 350 people from departments under the Tonghua city committee of the CPC and all walks of life in the city took part in a themed Party and Communist Youth League Day on the Tomb-sweeping Day.

As this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC, the publicity department of the CPC Baishan city committee organized a team of 100 people to tell revolutionary stories of Baishan in public units, schools, enterprises, villages, communities and garrisons including army men, experts, scholars, teachers, officials, students and members of the general public.

During the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday, Chen Qiuyuan, member of the team and a teacher from the Changbai Mountain Executive Leadership Academy, told stories of general Yang Jingyu and the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army to a young audience at the planning exhibition hall of the Jingyu Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army Education Base.

Chen hoped to spread the spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army to rural areas and enterprises through her storytelling.

"I want more people, especially young people, to learn about that hard time and pass down the red gene of Baishan."
