Changchun marks International Museum Day with various activities

Changchun city, the main city in Jilin province for celebrating the International Museum Day, launched a variety of celebration activities at the Changchun City Confucius Temple Museum on May 18.

The theme of this year's International Museum Day was "The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine". Around this theme, museums in Changchun launched some 100 activities.

Yang Andi, head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Jin Xudong, deputy head of the department and head of the Jilin Provincial Cultural Bureau, Qu Xiao, head of the Changchun City Bureau of Culture, Broadcast, Television and Tourism, and Kong Deming, deputy secretary general of the Confucius Temple Protection Association of China, attended the launching ceremony.

The celebration activities at the Changchun City Confucius Temple had seven highlights.

200 Tai Chi enthusiasts performed Taichi together.

At the education exhibition area of the Confucius Cultural Park, students of the Changchun Confucius Temple Primary School presented the school's featured educational programs with their performance including the playing of traditional Chinese musical instruments Zheng and bamboo flute, reciting and Wushu exercises.

The museum also organized a coming-of-age ceremony for 28 teenagers, marking the 100th time for the museum to hold the event.

The museum also organized 40 students to experience China's history and traditional culture together with their parents, including imperial examination, ancient game and etiquette Touhu, inscription rubbing, and tea culture.

In addition, students also experienced skills that must be learned by students from noble families in ancient China, including etiquette, guqin, and calligraphy.

A picture-story book inscribed on Changbai jade was also exhibited to show the lifetime of Confucius.

Another highlight was a drama named Confucius to show the achievements of Confucius throughout his life as an educator.  

Other museums in Changchun, including the Jilin Provincial Museum, the Palace Museum of the Manchurian Regime, the Changchun Museum, the Jilin Folk Handcraft Gallery, the Yushu City Museum, and the Former Site Museum Of Changchun Film Studio, also held various activities to mark the International Museum Day.
