Jilin launches campaign to promote red tourism

To build up Jilin's red tourism brand so that it can better promote economic and social development, Jilin launched its red tourism promotion campaign at the Yang Jingyu Executive Leadership Academy in Tonghua city on June 21.

Sponsored by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the CPC Tonghua City Committee, and the people's government of Tonghua, the campaign marked Jilin's first provincewide red tourism promotion initiative to celebrate the CPC centenary.

Shi Yugang, head of publicity of Jilin, attended the launch ceremony. Gao Zhiguo, secretary of the CPC Tonghua City Committee delivered a welcome speech. Yang Andi, head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism made a speech.

In her speech, Yang introduced Jilin's struggles at different stages of history from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the new era and the great achievements made the Jilin people under the leadership of the CPC.

During the launch ceremony, Jilin also released a series of red tourism products, including its top 100 red tourism sites and 30 red tourism routes. It also unveiled its top 100 red stories.

Jin Xudong, deputy head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, inked agreements with the people's government of Tonghua and the China Railway Shenyang Group Co., Ltd. respectively to promote protection of revolutionary relics and red tourism and boost railway tours to Jilin.

A "10,000 People on Red Tourism Tours in Jilin" activity was also launched on the same occasion. Via a video link, eight coaches carrying tourists were seen leave from different parts of Jilin for red tourism sites.

In recent years, Jilin has been paying great attention to the development and utilization of red resources and actively seeking to coordinate the protection of revolutionary relics with the development of the tourism industry. With these efforts, red tourism in the province has seen robust development, and a system of red tourism destinations with Jilin characteristic has basically taken shape. From 2018 to 2020, red tourism sites in the province received 24.65 million visitors, 16 sites at eight places became national classic red tourism sites and 23 red resources have been listed among the 100 red tourism routes to mark the CPC centenary.

Going forward, Jilin will continue to strengthen red tourism and make it the fourth focus in the dvelopment of the local tourism industry after ice and snow tourism, summer tourism and rural tourism.

Altogether over 200 people attended the launch events.
