'Wonderful Night in Jilin · 2021 Summer Performance Season' starts

"Wonderful Night in Jilin · 2021 Summer Performance Season", a summer cultural program sponsored by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, opened at the Changchun Confucius Temple Square on July 3.

The third Jilin Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival, which was part of the summer performance season, kicked off on the same day.

The opening show of the season was an Ansai waist drum performance, a national intangible cultural heritage, staged by a troupe from Ansai, Shaanxi, which was known as the Hometown of Waist Drum.

Another highlight on the opening day was performers of Pingju opera singing classic tunes, which fully showcased the charm of Pingju opera, another national intangible cultural heritage.

In addition to performance, there were also 53 intangible cultural heritage products on sale on the opening day, attracting lots of visitors to try and buy.

As part of the opening performance of the third Jilin Intangible Cultural Heritage, an art troupe from Cixi, Zhejiang gave an Ou music performance at the Changchun Dazhong Theatre, marking the first time the festival introduced Ou music performance, a music form played on ceramic utensils.

The festival would also include Yuju opera performance from a troupe from Henan, Yueju opera performance from a troupe from Zhejiang, performance from a troupe from Xi'an and Pingtan performance from a troupe in Shanghai.

The summer performance season will last until July 31 and the performance at the Confucius Temple Square will last until July 19.

Every night at 19:00, local residents as well as tourists can enjoy the performances free of charge at the square.
