18th Library Science Seminar in NE China held in Changbai county

The 18th Library Science Seminar in Northeast China took place from July 6 to 9 in Changbai county, Jilin province, sponsored by the library societies of Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces.
Over 160 people, including experts from 78 libraries in the three northeastern provinces as well as industry representatives, attended the event.
Zhao Ruijun, president of the Library Society of Jilin and curator of Jilin Provincial Library presided over the opening session; Xia Rongqin, publicity head of Changbai county, delivered welcome remarks; Du Xilin, president of the Library Society of Liaoning and curator of Liaoning Provincial Library, delivered a speech on behalf of the library societies of the three provinces.
In his speech at the event, Zhang Chenyuan, deputy head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, urged libraries to promote the creative evolution and development of fine traditional Chinese culture, see the revolutionary culture remains alive and strong, and develop an advanced socialist culture.
Gao Changshan, professor of the Northeast Normal University, gave a thematic report titled "Cultural Confidence and Traditional Chinese Humanistic Spirit" at the seminar.
Six award-winning thesis authors shared their views on library science gained either from theoretical research or work experiences at libraries.
At the closing session, heads of the three provincial library societies awarded certificates to the award-winning thesis authors. Zhao Ruijun delivered closing remarks.
The 19th session of the event will be held in Liaoning.
After the event, participants visited the Changbai County Library and the Guoyuan Korean Folk Village Library in Changbai county.
