Jilin Opera work passes Ministry of Culture and Tourism acceptance test
'The Story of Three Girls Named Peach, Plum and Prune," a Jilin Opera work created by the Jilin Provincial Traditional Opera Theatre in 1960, passed the acceptance test of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for its program to support the adaptions of 100 traditional fine stage art works to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China on September 29.
The play, with its intricate plots, comic elements, as well as various and complete singing styles and roles, has remained popular since its debut. It has been adapted by 28 opera genres. In 1979, it was made into a film for screening both at home and abroad. In 2012, it was named one of the national fine repertory opera works by the former Ministry of Culture.
Experts evaluating the play for the acceptance test put toward their suggestions for improvement after watching the performance, according to which, the Jilin Provincial Traditional Opera theatre will further improve the play.
