Named Zhai Xing Lou, the show is a classic Peking Opera play first created by Ma Shaobo and Weng Ouhong and performed in 1958 by such performing artists as Li Hezeng, Jiang Xinrong, Gao Yuqian, Zhang Chunhua, Zhang Yunxi, Jing Rongqing and Jiang Shiyu.

When staged at the Dazhong Grand Theatre for approval, the show, starring Ni Maocai, head of the Jilin Provincial Traditional Opera Theatre and other famous and up-and-coming artists, won applause from experts present at the theatre to examine the work.

Putting this classic play on stage again represented an effort of the Peking Opera unit of the Jilin Provincial Traditional Opera Theatre to revive traditional plays. The program was also intended to mark the 100th birthday of famous Peking Opera performing artist Li Hezeng.

Zhai Xing Lou marked the third show from Jilin that had won financial support from the China Peking Opera Art Foundation, after Zeng Ti Pao and Feng Huang Er Qiao.

Ni Maocai hoped that more talents would be discovered, trained and inspired through putting classic Peking Opera shows on stage again.
