Jilin, Xinjiang join hands to boost ice and snow economy

Major progress has been made in the joint construction of an experimental zone for promoting high-quality development of the ice and snow economy between Jilin and Xinjiang.

The zone, tapping into the prime ice and snow resources on the Changbai Mountains and Altay Mountains, focuses on ice and snow tourism, sports, culture, equipment, commerce, trade, finance, policy and human resources.

As part of the joint efforts, the first Jilin-Xinjiang Ice and Snow Sports Youth Friendly was successfully held, so were a number of high-level meetings to discuss ice and snow industry policies such as the Ice and Snow Silk Road Forum and the Changbai Mountain-Altay Mountain Dialogue.

On the Jilin side, the province has made active endeavors to implement the general construction plan for the zone. For example, the Administrative Committee of the Changbai Mountain, Jilin city and Tonghua city have all formulated plans or draft plans. Jilin city has set up a special ice and snow industry bureau to coordinate citywide efforts.

Going forward, the Jilin Provincial Leading Team for Tourism Industry Development will continue to maintain close communication with the Xinjiang side to implement the 2021-2035 general plan for the joint experience zone.
