Jilin Confucius Temple

Jilin Confucius Temple, 1 km from downtown Jilin, is located at 2 Nanchang Road, Changyi District of Jilin. The earliest Confucius Temple was approved by Emperor Qianlong in 1736 and started to be built in 1742 under the supervision of Wei Shimin, magistrate of Yongji Prefecture. The Confucius Temple that we see now was built in 1907. The temple is composed of palace halls, side rooms and walls. It is 221 meters long from north to south, 74 meters wide from east to west and 16,354 square meters in area.
Besides the Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Palace Hall and Chongsheng Hall, the main body of the temple also include auxiliary buildings such as screen wall, eastern and western outer gates, front pool and Zhuangyuan (number one scholar) Bridge.
It is an AA-level national tourist attraction, and is the biggest Confucius Temple in northeast China. It focuses mainly on Confucius, Confucianism and Confucius culture. It also has exhibitions of Confucius’ life and deeds, China’s ancient imperial examination system, ancient buildings of China and collection of ancient stone tablets.

Transportation: The Confucius’ Temple, located on Songjiang Road East beside the Songhua River, is more than 70 km away from the airport, which is a one-hour drive. It is 5 km from the railway and long-distance bus stations, which is a 14-minute drive.
Self-driving: Start off from Changchun City on highway, pass by Jiutai and arrive in Jilin City, taking about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Exiting the highway, drive along Jilin Street, turn eastward at the Jiangcheng Square Turnaround and arrive at the gate of the Confucius Temple after 200 meters.
Special tourist buses: Take buses No.19, 3, 130, 30, 40, 42, 52, 33 and 56 and get off at the Jiangcheng Square Stop.
